Awards Received by the Department
Two members of the McFarland EMS were presented with a pink stork pin for their response to an imminent birth. Dane County Emergency Services customarily awards the pins to EMTs who have assisted in a birth. In this case, a baby girl born on January 12th, 2009. A member of the McFarland Volunteer Fire Department also received the award for assisting on the call.
30 years of Service
McFarland EMS received recognition for being in operation for 30 years. Dane County EMS honored McFarland EMS and other services in the area at a banquet on February 17, 2007.
Robert L. Brunning Award of Excellence "Service of the Year Award"
The McFarland EMS has been awarded the 2004 Robert L. Brunning Award of Excellence by Dane County. This award was established in May 1996 as a memorial to Robert L. Brunning, the former Dane County EMS System Coordinator, who was instrumental in the initial development of a coordinated Dane County EMS system. The prestigious award is given to the EMS District that exemplifies outstanding professionalism and service to the communities it serves. McFarland EMS upgraded its level of care to EMT Basic IV Technician, co-sponsored babysitting classes, provided CPR and First Aid training for over 100 community members, and participated in various community events.

Other EMS Accomplishments
- First Dane County service to implement the new advanced skills of glucagon, aspirin and albuterol.
- First EMS service in the State to be licensed at the EMT-Basic IV Tech level.
