Emergency Government
PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
Emergency Government is the planned response of all Village departments to various types of emergencies. The budget includes the maintenance of emergency warning sirens and the purchase of expendable supplies and protective equipment that are shared by all departments as needed. The Emergency Government Committee prepares and maintains an emergency response plan and conducts periodic training exercises to test the plan and the readiness of Village staff.
STAFFING
The Emergency Government Director position is an add-on job responsibility presently assigned to the Deputy Fire Chief. An annual stipend is paid for this assignment. Other department heads, citizen members, and representatives fiom the tank farms association and the school district serve on the Emergency Government Committee.
Deputy Chief Scott Miller's dual roles as the Deputy Fire Chief and the Emergency Government Coordinator gives the Village of McFarland a unique level of preparedness for dealing with large scale natural and manmade critical incidents. The commitment of all members of McFarland’s Emergency Services and the members of our community maximizes the safety and security of our village. The Public Safety and Village departments continued to be an active participant in the on going preparation and training of our communities emergency governmental services. These exercises bring together law enforcement, fire services, emergency medical services, and the community to plan for these types of events.
McFarland Emeregency Government will work with County, State and Federal agencies to ensure that all resources are made available including "after the fact" grants, loans and public assistance programs. We have the responsibility to train and familiarize the residents of McFarland to help them avoid becoming a victim of a man-made or natural disasters.
