Municipal Court Overview
MUNICIPAL COURT
The Municipal Court is an essential department which has been created by the governing body of the Village of McFarland. The Municipal Court has exclusive jurisdiction over actions involving violations of municipal ordinances under which the penalty is a forfeiture. The Court imposes fines and statutory fees, collects those fines and statutory fees, as well as imposes and collects restitution and other miscellaneous fees. The Court is governed under Article VII, Section 2, Constitution, State Statute 755.045(1), and Municipal ordinances codes Section 2-3-13(a).
STAFFING
The Municipal Court has a part-time Judge elected to a two-year term, and a part-time (28 hours per week) Court Clerk. The Judge is paid $7,500 per year and receives no fringe benefits.
