Noteworthy Cases
01-01-2013 Officers were dispatched to a vehicle on fire in the 5900 block of Holscher Road. The responding officer arrived on scene and found the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames. Fire Department personnel arrived and the fire was extinguished. It was then found there were two deceased individuals inside the burnt vehicle. The case is still under investigation pending the full report from the Medical Examiners Office.
01-01-2013 Officers received a complaint of a vehicle that was operating recklessly in the area. The vehicle was located and a traffic stop was made. The driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol and arrested. The driver was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence-6th offense and open intoxicants in a motor vehicle. Blood alcohol results are pending but the preliminary breath test showed the driver had a .155 blood alcohol concentration.
01-01-2013 An officer was dispatched to a business in the 5100 block of Erling Avenue for a reported theft. The officer made contact with the suspect in the case. At one point during the contact, the suspect reached up and struck the officer in the face. The suspect was eventually taken into custody after a brief struggle and charged with battery to a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and theft. The suspect was booked into the Dane County Jail on the charges.
01-04-2013 An officer was dispatched to a business in the 4100 block of Terminal Drive for a burglary. The officer completed his investigation and turned the case over to the detective for follow-up investigation. Later in the month, two suspects were identified and eventually charged with the burglary to the business.
01-26-2013 Officers were dispatched to a domestic disturbance in the 5600 block of Scott Street. Officers arrived on scene and learned the suspect had damaged some property and physically assaulted the victim. The suspect was arrested for domestic related disorderly conduct and criminal damage to property. The suspect was booked into the Dane County Jail.
