Dane County Landfill (Rodefeld Site)

You can take non-woody yard waste only to the Dane County Landfill (Rodefeld Site) located at 7102 Hwy 12 & 18 (across from the Yahara Hills Golf Course) at no charge. The hours are Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 2:45 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.

City of Madison (121 East Olin Avenue)

Brush Only - $15.00 minimum charge
The hours are Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

NEW Brush/Yard Waste Drop Off Site Directions (2159 Range Trail, Verona, WI)

The new site is 2nd Season Recycling and their telephone number is 608-848-4400. To obtain more information about 2nd Season, click here for their website.

You can take all brush/yard waste to the new site. There is no charge unless the brush is larger than 1 1/2" in diameter, then the fee is $25.

Hours of operation are: Monday - Friday 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. and (currently closed on Saturday for the winter) Saturday 7:00 a.m. to Noon.

The new brush/yard drop off site is located at 2159 Range Trail, Verona, WI. You can take two different routes. The directions are as follows:

Route 1 - County Road M (16.6 miles - about 25 minutes)

From US Highway 51 go north to US Highway 12/18 (need to turn left - west)

Take US Highway 12/18 west - approximately 4.2 miles

Take exit 261 A-B to US 151/Park Street/US 14 toward Oregon

Keep left at the fork, follow signs for South Park Street and merge onto US 14 East/US 151 South

Continue to follow US 14 East about 6.2 miles

Take the exit toward Oregon

Merge onto County Highway MM/US 14

Turn right at County Road M - go about 7.7 miles

Turn left at Range Trail - Destination will be on the right (2159 Range Trail)

Route 2 - US 151/US 18/Verona Road (21.4 miles)

From US Highway 51 go north to US Highway 12/18 (need to turn left)

Take US Highway 12/18 west - approximately 7.3 miles

Take exit 258 to US 151/US 18 toward Dodgeville

Turn left at South Midvale Blvd/US 151/US 18

Continue to follow US 151/US 18 - approximately 5.3 miles

Take exit 79 for PB toward M

Turn left at Old PB

Turn right at County Road M

Turn left at Range Trail - Destination will be on the right (2159 Range Trail)

Yard/Garden Waste

The 2010 Yard/Garden Waste collection schedule is as follows:

Week of May 3rd (the whole village)

Week of November 8th (the whole village)

Please follow the yard/garden waste guidelines below:

Place all material curbside in open bags or trash containers by 6:00 a.m. on Monday of the collection week.

Include leaves, garden waste, thatch, grass clippings, non-woody plant materials, and evergreen clippings (less than six inches in length).

Do not rake leaves into the street - place on the backside of the curb.

The above guidelines will help the contrctors do their jobs more efficiently and safely.

Brush Chipping

Brush chipping is done by "zones."

The 2010 Brush Chipping schedule is as follows:

Zone 1 - Weeks of: April 26th; September 13th; and October 25th.

Zone 2 - Weeks of: May 3rd; September 20th; and November 1st.

Zone 3 - Weeks of: May 10th; September 27th; and November 8th.

Zone 1: East of Highway 51, North of the railroad tracks and Broadhead Street, West of Marsh Road
Zone 2: East of Marsh Road, Milwaukee Street and Creamery Road
Zone 3: All remaining areas

Please follow the brush chipping guidelines below:

Place all material curbside by 6:00 a.m. on Monday of the collection week. The chipping contractor will only make one pass through each section.

Brush pieces should be no longer than 10 feet and no shorter than 6 inches.

Brush should not be greater than three inches in diameter.

Place the cut ends of the brush toward the curb and stack in neat piles.

Do not put brush in the street - place on the backside of the curb.

If you set brush out after the chipping has taken place in your area, your brush will not be chipped until next spring.

Christmas Tree Pick Up

Christsmas trees will be picked up the week of January 18 - 22, 2010. Trees being picked up must be placed at the curbside by 6:00 a.m. on Monday, January 18, 2010. Trees must be stripped of all ornaments, decorative materials, and bags and they should be placed with the butt end of the trunk facing the street. Please be aware of snow conditions as trees buried in or perched high on snow banks will not be collected.
