Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer opportunities through the Senior Outreach department may be available for those wanting to get involved in the community. Some of these include: driving seniors to medical appointments, delivering meals to home-bound seniors, making items from cloth and yarn for needy persons (women’s shelters, hospitals, Salvation Army, etc.), doing office work, and serving on the Endowment and advisory committees. Volunteering in these areas vary from time to time, depending on volunteer turnover and the time of the year. Interested persons should contact the office at 838-7117 for more information.
Outreach Department Volunteers
Volunteers are being recruited to do light clerical work and reception duties for the Senior Outreach Services Department. Duties include answering telephone calls, meeting and greeting guests, sharing information and resources, checking loan equipment in and out, and possible computer work. Hours would be 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. This position can be shared by more than one person. Qualities suitable for the position include: good people skills, attention to detail, team player, computer skills, & the ability to lift light weights. Contact Ingrid for details.
Driver Escort Program
Responsible drivers are greatly needed to take older adults to medical appointments in McFarland, Stoughton and Madison. Schedules for driving are flexible, so volunteers can designate which days and times they are willing to drive. Mileage is reimbursed for this program. Many seniors rely solely on this form of transportation to get to vital appointments. Call 838-7117 if interested.
