What hours are the library open?
9:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday
9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Friday - Saturday
12:00 - 3:00 p.m. Sunday

Closed days are: January 1, Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, December 24 and 25, and closing at 5:30 PM on December 31 (if a weekday).

Where is the library located?
The library's address is 5920 Milwaukee St., McFarland, WI 53558. Go east on Farwell at Highway 51. Go through the 4-way stop at Farwell and Main, and take a left on Milwaukee St. The Library is across the street from the Municipal Center. See Map

How can I get a library card?
You can apply for a free card at the library by filling out a registration form, and showing a photo I.D. with your current address. If your photo I.D. does not have your current address, bring other proof of residence (checks, official bill mailed to you, rental agreement, etc.) Children under 16 must have a parent or legal guardian sign the registration form.

What activities do you have for children at the library?
The Library offers a variety of preschool story times and school-age programs throughout the year, as well as the Summer Library Program. For more information, see the Youth Services web page or call the library at 838-9030.

Can I use the Internet and/or make copies at the library?
The library has 12 Internet computers, equipped with the Microsoft Office suite. They are available as walk-in, or you may reserve a computer a day ahead.  Reserve a Computer  The time limit is one hour with an additional half hour available if no one is waiting. Wireless access is also available. There is no time limit for wireless use, but there is a bandwidth limit per day.

A self-service black and white and color photocopier with a coin-op unit is available for public use. Paper sizes available are 8.5x11 and 8.5x14. The copier is able to reduce, enlarge, and produce double-sided copies. It can also scan and save to and print from a USB drive. A black and white laser printer can print pages from the public computers. The fee for both copier and printer is 10 cents per page. Color copies are 50 cents.

What number can I call to obtain information on item status?
The LINK TeleCirc number (also known as Harriet) is (608) 242-4700, and is available 24 hours a day. Please have your library card barcode number and PIN number handy .

How can I receive notices of my holds by email instead of by phone?
You can give Harriet (and yourself!) a break by asking at the Library circulation desk. We can change your library computer record so that you receive the notices by email.

How can I join the Friends of the McFarland Library?
There is a Membership Form you can fill out and turn in at the library to join the Friends group. Membership levels range from $1 for students to $100 for lifetime memberships. For more information about the Friends, see the Friends Web Page.

How can I reserve the library’s meeting room?

Visit the Large Meeting Room Reservation page on the library's web site to view availability and fill out the online application form.  Please read the Meeting Room Policy carefully before applying to use the meeting room. You will be contacted within 3 business days to confirm the reservation.
