Community & Economic Development
The Community & Economic Development Department oversees planning and building inspections through the administration of the Village's zoning, subdivision, and building codes with it accomplishes:
- Conditional use permits
- Planned developments
- Plan review of residential and commercial development
- Review of certified survey maps
- Site and design reviews
- Subdivision plats
- Variance requests
This department creates developments plans for the community such as the Comprehensive Plan, neighborhood plans, Outdoor Recreation Plan, Downtown Master Plan, and Tax Increment Finance Districts.
The Community & Economic Development Department has reopened for in-person permit drop-off and pick-up. Individuals who prefer not to come into the Municipal Center may continue to utilize the drop box in the west end of the parking lot of the Municipal Center to drop-off any building or zoning permits, or mail them to the Department.

Building Permits are required for any new residential or commercial building construction, any additions or changes to the exterior of your building or property, and any additions or changes to the interior of your building.
