The McFarland Police Department works with local Technical Colleges as well as the UW Criminal Justice Department in helping prepare the next generation of law enforcement officer through its Internship Program.
Internship opportunities are forwarded to the Department directly from the college itself and, depending upon a variety of factors, may or may not be accepted. Interns are generally college students that are close to their graduation date.
The program is structured very similarly to the Department's Field Training Program, with the intern being evaluated on performance and being trained in most facets of law enforcement, with the obvious exception of those which would put the intern's safety in jeopardy.
