Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) Sewing Group

Do you enjoy knitting or sewing? Are you a person who likes to help the less fortunate? If you answered "yes" to both questions, then we invite you to join the RSVP Sewing Group.

The group meets on the first and third Fridays of each month, from 1 to 3 pm at the Homestead Apartments (5910 Anthony Street). The group is assigned projects by the Dane County Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) to create for people in need. Items can include quilts, baby hats, mittens, aprons, stuffed toys, and much more. Outside of the group meetings, many volunteers create items at home and then bring the completed projects to the meetings. Supplies such as yarn, thread, and fabric are donated to the group.

The sewing group welcomes new people who can donate some time at the group meeting or in their own homes to make items. Supplies for the projects are also welcomed.

Mah Jongg

Mah Jongg originated in China and involves tiles placed strategically. For those familiar with the game, the group follows national rules. Play involves some critical thinking which is very helpful for brain health. The group is always interested in welcoming new players. However, having some instruction ahead of play makes it more enjoyable. The group is willing to teach 2 to 3 new individuals at a time.

Feel free to drop in to observe and meet the players any Wednesday from 12:30 to 4 pm in the Community Room of the Municipal Center.

If you are interested in learning the game, please call the Outreach Department at 608-838-7117; we will arrange a time with one of our players for instruction.

Euchre is held every 4th Friday of the month from 12:30 pm to 4 pm in the Community Room of the Municipal Center.
