Carolyn Clow

Background Information

How Long Have You Been a Resident of McFarland?

I have lived in McFarland since 2005.

How Many Years Have You Held Elected Office in the Village of McFarland?

This is my second term as Village Board President, but I served as a Village Trustee April 2017-2019 and April 2020-2021.

Why Did You Decide to Become an Elected Official?

The McFarland community is an excellent place to live and raise a family. Serving on the Village Board is the natural next step to giving back to a community that has been so great to me.

Can You Describe Your Work History?

I have worked for the Dane County Department of Administration in purchasing and contracting for over 20 years.

Can You Describe Your Educational History?

I earned a Bachelor's degree in Spanish from Carleton College and a Master's degree in public affairs from the LaFollette School of Public Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

What Are Some of Your Favorite Activities or Events in McFarland?

We are very fortunate in McFarland to have so many wonderful events to attend where residents are able to gather and experience fun, laughter, and community spirit. As the former director of the McFarland Family Festival, I would say the Festival is at the top of my list! I also enjoy kayaking on the Yahara River and in lower Mud Lake, volunteering at the legion and with the Girl Scouts, and relaxing on a weekend with a (Spartan) pizza!

What Do You Enjoy Doing in Your Free Time?

I enjoy reading, cooking, hiking, kayaking, engaging conversations and following politics at every level.

Is There Anything Else You'd like to Tell the Public?

I like being an ambassador for McFarland telling others about our wonderful community with our natural resources, amenities, events, and great people. Neither I nor the members of the Village Board can do this work alone. We need the support and expertise of community members on our committees and commissions and we need to hear from you in public comment so we can make the best possible decisions for the Village.

Term expires: April 2025
